Before any product: the questions
Who holds the keys?
If a company holds them, you hold a claim on that company. If you hold them, nobody can freeze the coins, and nobody can recover them for you.
Can anyone block the balance?
Providers can freeze accounts; a network usually cannot. The Control criterion of the rating method describes the difference.
What happens if the provider disappears?
With self-custody, nothing changes for your coins. With a custodian, you are a creditor in its insolvency.
What if the phone is lost, or you die?
The backup decides both: who can restore the wallet, and who cannot.
