Cash index
How usable is cash, country by country? Legal limits on cash payments, whether shops must accept cash, how often people still pay with it, and how many cash machines there are. Each value comes from a primary source and carries its date; what is not sourced yet says so.

Cash index: countries in the rows, the four measures in the columns.

9 of 36 values sourced so far. The columns sort by value, never as a ranking of countries.
How to read the table
- Payment limits differ in scope from country to country (for example only payments to businesses, or a different limit for visitors from abroad). The value shown is the general limit; the source states the details.
- The cash share counts payments at the point of sale by number, not by value, as surveyed by the European Central Bank.
- ATM density is the latest year the World Bank publishes from the IMF Financial Access Survey.
- A value that has not been sourced yet stays empty. It is never shown as zero.
