About WhatTheChain
A curious name, a calm house.
The name asks “what the …?”. Everything else answers, quietly: an independent, multilingual reference for crypto in its wider economic context.

Why it exists
Crypto is the first financial market that most people enter without a guide. The information exists, but it is scattered across price portals, help centres, regulators’ documents and social feeds, each with its own sales logic.
WhatTheChain is the layer that connects them: an encyclopaedia, a consumer testing organisation and the economics desk of a serious newspaper, in one place and in several languages. It takes the perspective of the person holding the phone, not of the exchange, the protocol or the fund.
Arrive with a vague “what the …?” feeling about anything in crypto, and leave with an understanding you can explain to someone else.

Guidance without advice
Not a disclaimer but a construction principle that runs through the product, the language and the assistant.
Properties, not persons
WhatTheChain rates products and describes assets. It never asks about age, income, wealth, horizon or risk tolerance.
Public, not personal
Every result is a public URL, computed from published rules and visible weights.
Teach, don’t select
WhatTheChain provides the vocabulary, the mechanics, the data and the comparison. The choice stays with the reader.
Show all sides
Strengths and weaknesses with the same weight, for Bitcoin and bank money alike.
